January 2013
Sale Authority Mustangs are defined by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as animals that have been passed over for public adoption at least three times, or animals that are ten years old an older (who automatically become sale authority horses).  Sale Authority Mustangs are sold to the public for a mere $25.00 a head or $10.00 a head for anyone willing to purchase an entire truckload of 20 or more! Our group did some reserch on what happens to most of these captured Sale Authority aged mustangs when sold by the truck load. We were in disbelief as to the multitude of 'OUR' American Iconic Mustangs (now over 40,000) that have been captured, deemed usless and sent to private -government funded long term same sex holding facilities or have been sold to horse dealers by the truck load! How did this happen? We then sprang into action spring of 2009  to form the Sale Authority Mustang Rescue Group!    As there is no program to encourage adoptions of these older Sale Authority aged mustangs,we decided to save 4 older wild horses to give them a chance at a domestic life on some civil pasture land! Those 4 original wild ones were a chalenge to find homes for but 3 were placed in homes with 1 remaining as a resident of our facility!

The horses we currently have came from the Twin Peaks Herd Management Area (HMA) and were rounded up in the summer of 2010.  We have several animals who were photographed in the August 2010 round ups; Smoke, Surfer Dude, and the Messenger.

Our group is currently in the process of re-homing several older wild horses, and two yearlings (whom were born here in Michigan). We are seeking adopters who are up for a challenge, devoted to learning and first & formost   Most of these animals have been acclimated to electric fencing, being around people, loud noises, trucks, and tractors; and are ready to move on with their lives.   For more information on individual wild horses that are available for adoption/re-homing please check out our sponsored page. To see some of the Sale Authority aged mustangs that have been adopted please feel free to check out our Adopted Mustangs Page where you can see new photos and read owners/adopters loving stories that are heartfelt and devoted to their wild ones!.

We also understand that older wild horses are not for everyone, but we thank you for visiting our site.   Check out the links below for more information on mustangs!  Also if you have any questions about our program contact Wendi via email or phone; her information is on the contact page.  If there is more information that you would like to see on our site please email: www.saleauthoritymustangrescue@hotmail, and we will be more than happy to add any information!
